to the web site dedicated to The Bedford (Leigh) Band the North West Area's band of the 1980s. They formed in 1875 as The St. Thomas' Band Bedford ( becoming Bedford Church in 1894) holding rehearsals in the School behind St. Thomas' Church on Chapel Street Leigh. The band broke up sometime in the early 1990s.

Some of you may wonder why a picture of The Brewery Inn is featured on the band's home page. There are many that won't. This is where the members of the band met for many years and over many pints, the bands politics were debated.

There are many bandsmen and women that have many fond memories of their time as members of "Bedford". It is this site that may be the nucleus to bring them together once again. There is a reunion on the cards for this year. So any ex-members out there, keep in touch.

This site is brand new (November 2000) and will grow so please return regularly to keep up with it's progress and see who has made contact. The guest book is available for signing. Please make use of this.

I would like to thank all who have contributed material for this site especially, Tom Culshaw, Phil Boardman, Chris Ratchford, Leigh Library Archives, Martin Trumble and Stephen Tighe.
